Intrusion Tests |
Why conduct an intrusion test?
An intrusion test is a method of evaluating the security of an application or computer network.
The method typically consists of a simulation of a malicious intruder or of an already compromised or malicious system.
The verification process involves an active target analysis designed to detect all potential vulnerabilities in code, pages, or other information architecture components.
The analysis is performed under the same conditions as those of an attacker. The test needs to simulate certain attacks by being authenticated on the targeted system, and other attacks without a valid access account (non-authenticated attacks).
During an intrusion test, there is a phase of exploitation of vulnerabilities that are detected.
The purpose of this phase is to simulate the actual impact of an attack without deliberately disturbing the system.
After technical tests are conducted, the system's vulnerabilities are summarized in a report that describes the detected weaknesses and offers recommendations for solutions.
Security flaws are generally listed in the order of their severity.
